The Leopold Group is a Singapore-based hospitality and beverage company founded by Austrian restaurateur Klaus Leopold, built on a philosophy of authentic hospitality, European craftsmanship, and constant evolution.
The Beginning — 2013
The journey began in 2013 with the opening of gastro.Bar at 32 Bali Lane, a pioneering concept that introduced Singapore to a relaxed European gastro-bar culture — combining serious food, curated wines, and an informal social atmosphere.
Leopold Gastrobar — A Decade of Heritage
In 2014, Klaus opened Leopold Gastrobar, which quickly became a landmark venue serving Austrian, German and Swiss classics.
For ten years, Leopold Gastrobar 96 Tanjong Pagar established itself as one of Singapore’s most authentic Central European dining destinations, known for warm hospitality, traditional recipes, and a loyal community of guests who returned again and again.
Expanding Concepts
The Leopold vision continued to grow:
2015 — Red Danube Pte Ltd
A wine trading and import company supplying Singapore’s restaurants, hotels and private clients with carefully selected wines from Europe and Australia. Red Danube strengthened direct relationships with family wineries and expanded the group’s expertise beyond restaurants into beverage distribution.2016 — Leopold Spirits Pte Ltd
Founded together with Austrian master distiller Josef Farthofer, the company produces handcrafted spirits including Leopold Gin and Leopold Whisky, combining Austrian distillation tradition with modern innovation.2023 — Keb’s German Kebab
A fast-casual concept celebrating German street food culture, located alongside Leopold Gastrobar, bringing accessible European flavours to a broader audience.
New Chapters
In 2024, the group expanded with Leopold 2 at Boat Quay, continuing the spirit of the original concept while adapting to a new generation of diners and a changing culinary landscape in Singapore.
That evolution ultimately led to transformation.
Olive & Ember — The Next Era
Today, the Leopold Group enters its newest chapter with Olive & Ember, located at 42 Club Street.
Olive & Ember represents a natural progression — moving from Central European heritage toward a vibrant Mediterranean lifestyle concept. The restaurant embraces casual-chic dining, live energy, wine culture, and food designed for sharing: Mediterranean plates, steaks, pastas, tapas and pizzas.
While the cuisine has evolved, the philosophy remains unchanged:
Independent, owner-driven hospitality built on personality, quality, and genuine connection with guests.
